Armenia confirmed 33 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide case tally to 42 825, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.
According to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, the death toll reached 854, as two others fell victim to the virus. So far, 36 049 people have recovered from the infection.
There are currently 5 666 active coronavirus patients in Armenia.
Notably, Armenia reported its first coronavirus infection on March 1, in a citizen returning from neighboring Iran, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Facebook.
The 29-year-old, who arrived in the former Soviet nation on Friday, went to a doctor because he was not feeling well.
The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to over 200 countries and territories since then.
On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
