Kyrgyzstan has reported the first fatality due to the novel coronavirus outbreak on April 3. A 61-year-old man who came from abroad and tested positive for the COVID-19 test died in a hospital where he was under treatment in the southwestern Nookat city of the Osh region, according to a statement by the country's headquarters responsible from fighting the outbreak.

Today, Kyrgyzstan has confirmed another 42 cases of the novel coronavirus, Report says, citing Operative Headquarters of the country.

According to the information, the number of coronavirus cases recorded in the Central Asian country has reached 270, 30 of those are doctors.

Moreover, four people have died of the infection so far.

Notably, the coronavirus infection began to spread in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year. 209 states and regions have already reported on confirmed cases.

The number of people infected with coronavirus globally has so far exceeded1 431 000, 302 209 of those recovered, while 82 096 died.

The World Health Organization (WHO) named the infection COVID-19 on February 11. On March 11, the organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic.
