Cavusoglu: Turkiye has closed its airspace for military aircraft

"Turkiye is acting in accordance with international law. We have been stating since the beginning that we do not accept Russia's aggression against Ukraine. On the other hand, while no one called it a 'war,' we said it was a war and fully implemented the Montreux agreement," Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu told NTV channel.

"However, according to the Montreux agreement, we cannot close the airspace. If there are UN sanctions, we can close the airspace. But on the other hand, countries can decide to impose sanctions. However, we play the role of mediator between both parties. It is not right for us to join these sanctions. We have closed our airspace for military aircraft, but we cannot close it for civilian flights," Cavusoglu added.
