Embassy urges parents of Azerbaijanis studying in Turkey not to panic

"More than 500 Azerbaijanis study in the Turkish cities of Malatya and Elazığ. Most of them have left for Azerbaijan due to winter holidays," Education Advisor at the Azerbaijani embassy in Turkey Najiba Nasibova told Report's Turkish bureau.

She said some of the students are still in Turkey for exams: "As the country declared a one-week emergency, talks are underway with the respective structures to evacuate the students from the area."

The Azerbaijani embassy in Turkey urged the parents of students who receive education in Malatya and Elazığ to be calm.

"We understand their concern. But we want to tell them that there are no Azerbaijani students among those dead. I keep in touch with the universities. Due to the established situation, we can take the students out of the region temporarily, or evacuate them to Azerbaijan."
