Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammed Javad Zarif discussed the situation with coronavirus by phone.

Report informs, citing Tasnim, that both diplomats stressed the need for cooperation of all countries in the fight against COVID-19, which worldwide spread began on the last day of 2019 - on December 31 in the city of Wuhan, the most populous city in Central China.

Zarif also expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Azerbaijan for their help.

The official name of the virus is COVID-2019. It started to acquire a more threatening shape as the number of infection cases, and recorded deaths grew day by day, and the World Health Organization had to declare COVID-2019 a pandemic on March 11.

So far, there have been more than 150,000 officially registered cases. More than 5,000 people globally have died from the disease.
