Azerbaijan becomes main oil bitumen supplier of Georgia

Georgia imported 6,000 tonnes of oil bitumen from Azerbaijan in January-March 2020, Report informs referring to the Union of Oil Product Importers of Georgia.
Azerbaijan’s share in Georgia’s total oil bitumen import makes up 42%.
In March 2020, Georgia imported 5,200 tonnes of oil bitumen from Azerbaijan, which met 80% of the demand for this product.
In the first quarter of 2020, Georgia imported 14,300 tonnes of oil bitumen, down 4,900 tonnes, or 25.5% from the previous year.
Iran has been the main oil bitumen supplier of Georgia so far. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the import of this product from Iran to Georgia was banned. Therefore, Azerbaijan has become the main oil bitumen supplier of Georgia.
