Former Chief of Police of Armenia Vladimir Gasparyan was charged under 6 articles of the Criminal Code, including the legalization of property in the amount of more than 2.11 billion drams (about 4.3 million US dollars) and other corruption-related actions, Report informs with reference to Novosti-Armenia.

The Anti-Corruption Committee reports that Gasparyan, who occupied various government positions during 2000-2018, abused his official powers, squandered large sums of money, committed official forgery and other criminal acts.

So, according to the investigation, Gasparyan employed his wife to the Traffic Police in 2010-2011, but she did not appear at the service, did not fulfill her duties, but received a salary of more than 17 million drams. Then, while serving in the Police in 2011-2018, Gasparyan's wife did not fulfill her duties properly but was unjustifiably receiving payments of 19 million drams. Gasparyan, knowing about this, deliberately did not take the measures stipulated by the law.

Gasparyan's daughter was also convicted of similar actions - being enrolled in the police in 2015-2018, she did not fulfill her labor duties, but received a total of about 9 million drams.

The preliminary investigation into the criminal case is ongoing.
