Armenia: COVID-19 death toll hits 300

As of June 16 in the morning, 17,489 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Armenia. The number of infected in one day has grown by 425, Report says, National Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Tuesday.

According to it, 6,571 people have recovered. Currently, 10,529 are getting treatment.

The total death toll reached 293, as eight more fell victim to the virus.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China's Hubei province, and the virus has spread to over 200 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 8,1 million globally, resulting in more than 4, 2 million recoveries, and over 439 thousand deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
