Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan

History
On November 29, 2019, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order appointing Hikmat Hajiyev Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On July 9, 2018, he was awarded the Medal for Distinguished Service. On September 18, 2018, he held the position of Deputy Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On November 26, 2018, he was appointed Head of this Department.
From 2014 to 2018, he served as spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
He has been working within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan since 2000. He worked at the Azerbaijani representation in NATO, at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kuwait in different years. Since 2008, Hikmat Hajiyev served as Second Secretary of the Security Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 2011 he has held the position of Counselor at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Egypt. Since September 2013, he has worked as a department head at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hikmat Hajiyev was born in 1979 in Ganja and graduated from secondary school No. 24. He graduated from Baku State University, Faculty of International Relations and International Law with a bachelor's and master's degree. He graduated from NATO's Defense College, the George Marshall Center for Security Studies, and holds a master's degree from ULB University in Belgium.
