Wildfire forces evacuation of 28 villages in Spain

A massive wildfire in Sierra Norte de Guadalajara Natural Park, Spain, has forced the evacuation of residents from 28 settlements, displacing around 1,200 people, Report informs via EFE agency.

The blaze, which began on July 16, has already scorched 26,000 hectares of land.

The head of the Castile-La Mancha autonomous community, Emiliano García-Page, said the fire has caused an estimated €50 million in damage to the regional budget.

He added that at the government council meeting scheduled for tomorrow, officials will discuss restoration of infrastructure and coordination of aid for municipalities affected by the fire.
