Hong Kong has strongly condemned the United States for terminating three agreements, Report says, referring to AA.
A statement from the Hong Kong Autonomous Region (HKSAR) vehemently blamed the US government's move to create additional tensions with China and hold Hong Kong hostage.
The statement said that as a follow-up to the July 14 presidential decree, the State Department yesterday suspended or terminated bilateral agreements on the extradition of fugitives, the transportation of prisoners, and tax exemptions from international shipments.
It had taken action against the Chinese government's decision, which "violates the freedoms of the Hong Kong people and violates the National Security Law."
The White House also imposed sanctions on HKSAR leader Carrie Lam and several current and former officials, for "shaking Hong Kong's autonomy."
The new security law passed by the Chinese National People's Congress on June 30 this year and approved by the Hong Kong Legislature the next day caused a wide international backlash.
