US Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad said that prisoners swap between the Afghan authorities and the radical Taliban movement reached a new milestone, after which the inter-Afghan talks became closer than ever before, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.
We welcome the government now having exceeded 3000 Talib prisoners released and the Taliban 500+. The process must continue, and the prisoners' release roadblock resolved.
In late February, at a ceremony in Qatar, the US and the Afghan radical group "Taliban" signed the first peace agreement in more than 18 years of war, which provides for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan in 14 months and the beginning of an inter-Afghan dialogue in March after a prisoner exchange deal.
