US sees almost 68,000 new COVID cases

The US over the past day has recorded 67,933 new coronavirus infection cases, 477 people have died, according to the Johns Hopkins University, as well as other open sources, Report informs.

A day earlier, doctors in the US recorded over 42,000 cases of COVID-19 infection and 313 deaths.

The biggest daily increase in coronavirus infections in the US was recorded at the beginning of the year and amounted to more than 299,000 cases. In January, the country also recorded the maximum daily increase in COVID-related deaths - more than 4,300, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

In total, more than 31.7 million people have been infected with COVID in the US since the beginning of the pandemic, and 567,000 people have died.
