US keeps about 500 troops in Syria

US Central Command chief General Kenneth McKenzie said on Saturday about 500 US personnel in east Syria are expected to resume operations against Daesh in coming days and weeks. Report informs citing the TASS.
Notably, in mid-November, the head of the Pentagon, Mark Esper, said that Washington continues to withdraw troops from northeast Syria, the process will take a couple of weeks or more.
On November 10, General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, indicated that the United States intended to leave approximately 500 or 600 troops in Syria.
