US declares emergency after cyber attack on fuel company

The US authorities have declared a regional emergency over the suspension of Colonial Pipeline, a major US operator, which transports fuel by pipeline.
Report informs, citing RIA Novosti, Colonial Pipeline said it was undergoing a cyberattack. As a result, the company shut down some systems "to contain a threat that temporarily halted all pipeline operations and affected some information systems."
According to media reports, the Colonial Pipeline cyberattack was carried out using ransomware. Bloomberg reported that attackers from the DarkSide criminal group were behind the attack. They managed to steal 100 gigabytes of company data.
