US ambassador rules out permanent American military bases in Finland

The United States does not find the conditions suitable for establishing permanent American military bases in Finland, the US Ambassador to Finland, Douglas Hickey in an interview with the newspaper Ilta-Sanomat.
"I don't see the conditions for permanent American military bases to appear in Finland, but joint exercises will continue," Ambassador Hickey stated.
Ambassador Hickey, who is set to leave his post in Finland this week ahead of schedule to become an advisor to the campaign of US Vice President Kamala Harris, a candidate for the highest state post from the Democratic Party, was sworn in as the US Ambassador to Finland on April 6, 2022.
