UN Security Council urges to hold elections in Somalia soon

The UN Security Council calls on the Somali authorities to ensure that inclusive elections are held in the country as soon as possible, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, US Ambassador to the UN, told reporters following closed consultations in the Security Council, Report informs referring to TASS.
She noted that the UN Secretary General’s special representative for Somalia, James Swan, provided the Security Council with information regarding the situation in the country.
According to Thomas-Greenfield, representatives of the states that are members of the Security Council expressed concern about the current deadlock.
They stressed that it remains in the interest of all Somalis to ensure that inclusive elections are held as soon as possible.
