UN Sec.-Gen.: Possible to achieve end of conflict in Ukraine in 2023

Peace talks in Ukraine are hardly possible in the near future, the military confrontation will continue, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said at a press conference, Report informs referring to TASS.

“I am not optimistic about the possibility of effective peace negotiations in the near future. I believe that the military confrontation will continue and I believe that we will still have to wait for the moment when serious peace negotiations become possible. I do not see them on the near horizon, so we are concentrating efforts on other aspects of the situation - increasing the efficiency of the grain deal, adding new components to it, namely, the export of ammonia. We are also interested in accelerating the exchange of prisoners,” he said.

He believes that in 2023 it will be possible to achieve an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
