Ukraine to receive $240 million and equipment for mine clearance

Ukraine’s international partners will give it over $244 million for humanitarian mine clearance, Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, said on Facebook, Report informs via Ukrainska Pravda.

"We are working to increase state institutions’ capacity and to involve non-government organisations (NGOs) and businesses in mine clearance," Svyrydenko said.

She added that Ukraine has reached agreements with manufacturers based elsewhere in Europe, including the Croatian DOK-ING and the Danish Hydrema, to bring their production facilities to Ukraine. Ukraine is also working to secure access to more mine clearance equipment.

"By the end of this year, Ukraine is set to receive [mine clearance] equipment from its international partners, including 10 much-needed demining machines from the Croatian company DOK-ING, 10 Global Clearance Solutions machines, nearly 200 vehicles for explosives experts, over 600 metal detectors, and 50 blasting machines," Svyrydenko wrote on Facebook.

Ukraine will also receive individual mine clearance kits, explosive protective suits, quadcopters, and robotic systems for the disposal of ammunition.
