Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a decision that will simplify the procedure for issuing entry visas for foreign students, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said, Report informs.
“The strategy of foreign policy provides for the promotion of Ukraine’s image in the world, in particular as a country with a high-quality education. We simplify the procedure for issuing visas so that significantly more foreign students arrive in Ukraine, leave more money in the Ukrainian economy, and then return home with a positive attitude to our state,” Kuleba said.
The simplified procedure provides that the embassies and consulates of Ukraine abroad issue visas to students on the basis of electronic invitations to study.
“The countries are competing for foreign students, trying to attract them with favorable conditions. The competition is understandable because this is big money for the economy and investments in the country’s image. Today we have taken an important step that will increase the competitiveness of Ukraine in this global struggle,” said the minister.
The foreign minister added that the new procedure will be implemented jointly with other agencies within a pilot project approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on organizing enrollment in higher education institutions and training (internship) of foreigners and stateless persons using the Unified Interdepartmental Information System.
It is expected that the simplified procedure for issuing visas for foreign students will come into force after the implementation of the interdepartmental system is completed.
