Baku. 7 November. REPORT.AZ/ Two Muslim women have been elected to the US Congress for the first time, Report informs citing CNN.

Michigan Democrat Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's nominee, will secure their respective seats in strongly Democratic districts following primary victories earlier this year that effectively decided their races.

Rashida Tlaib is the US politician and lawyer of Palestin origin.

Ilhan Omar is the Somali-American politician from Minessota.

All the same, it is noted that the women politians set a record in the current midterm elections to the US Congress which now accounts for 107 women, the highest figure throughout the recent period.
