Türkiye and Uzbekistan plan to increase trade turnover to $5 billion in the near future, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat stated after talks with his Uzbek counterpart Laziz Kudratov in Ankara, Report informs.
"We emphasized our determination to increase bilateral trade between Türkiye and Uzbekistan to $5 billion within the framework of the concept determined by the presidents of the two countries. Within this target, we plan to continue working on expanding the scope of the bilateral preferential trade agreement and diversifying areas of cooperation," Bolat wrote on X.
He also emphasized that Türkiye will continue to support Uzbekistan's full membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and expand areas of cooperation within the framework of the Joint Economic Commission's action plan.
Ankara is hosting the 2nd trilateral meeting of foreign affairs, economy/trade, and transport ministers of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan today.
