The Thai Cabinet of Ministers decided to extend the state of emergency introduced in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic for another month – until September 30, Report says, citing TASS.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the National Security Council's proposals to extend the duration of the state of emergency in all areas of the kingdom for one more month – from September 1 to September 30, 2020. This decision was made because the coronavirus's current situation in many regions of the world remains difficult. Besides, Thai nationals are still returning to the country on export flights.
Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the allocation of a billion baht ($ 31.76 million) to support the vaccine's production. Thailand is developing its coronavirus vaccine, mRNA. It has already been tested in monkeys and is expected to begin the first human trials in October. If all goes according to plan, the drug will be ready in the third or fourth quarter of 2021.
Thailand reported the first case of coronavirus infection was detected on January 13. On March 22, the country recorded the largest daily increase in infected people-188 people. To date, the total number of people infected in the kingdom has exceeded 3.4 thousand, while more than 3.2 thousand people have recovered, and 58 have died.There have been no cases of transmission of infection within the country since May 26.
