Thai gov't officials face travel restrictions due to coronavirus

Thailand has restricted overseas travel for civil servants and imposed a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon return from countries with the highest risk of coronavirus infection, Spokesperson of the Thai Public Health Ministry Thaweesilp Wisanuyothin said at a briefing in Bangkok, Report informs via RIA Novosti.

A relevant decree of the Thai government has instructed all state bodies and departments to stop traveling to countries included in the list of destinations with the highest risk of coronavirus infection declared by the Thai Public Health Ministry. The decree also instructs to minimize the number of business trips to all countries, except for those that are urgently needed.

The document envisages a mandatory 14-day quarantine for civil servants returning from countries with the highest risk of infection.

The countries with the highest risk of infection included in the list of the Public Health Ministry are those where, according to the Thai authorities, the spread of coronavirus has gone out of the healthcare control

According to the spokesperson, these countries include China, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, Germany, Singapore, and France. The list of countries, the return from where will require compulsory quarantine for civil servants, is currently being specified and will be announced personally by the health minister this afternoon, Thaweesilp Wisanuyothin added.
