Sweden to increase military assistance to Ukraine

The Swedish government has decided to increase military assistance to Ukraine, reads a press release from the Government Chancellery published on May 23, Report informs referring to TASS.

“This assistance is confidential, and it will not be commented on yet. Confidentiality is necessary, among other things, for the assistance to arrive and be used by the Ukrainian defense,” reads the message.

At the end of March, the Swedish parliament supported the proposal of its financial committee to approve the transfer of mine-clearing equipment and 5,000 disposable anti-tank grenade launchers to Ukraine for 205 million crowns ($21.7 million).

On February 27, the government announced that 135,000 field rations, 5,000 helmets, 5,000 body armor and 5,000 Pansarskott 86 disposable anti-tank grenade launchers would be sent to Ukraine, up to 413.5 million crowns (43.53 million dollars) were allocated for that. In addition, an additional 500 million crowns ($52.63 million) was sent to the fund of the Central Bank of Ukraine to support the country’s armed forces.
