The price of steam coal in Europe surpassed $300 per ton on October 5, Report informs referring to TASS.
The previous all-time record of $219.39 per ton, maintained since June 2008, was broken on October 1, 2021.
Coal prices are rising amid a general rise in energy prices and the approaching heating season.
“The main supplier of coal to Europe is Russia, but domestic companies are unable to sharply increase exports due to infrastructure restrictions. In addition, preparations for the autumn-winter period are beginning in Russia, so producers are increasing coal supplies to domestic consumers,” the message said.
