Six dead after strong earthquake in Peru

A 5.1‑magnitude earthquake in Peru has left six people dead, according to Prime Minister Luis Arroyo Sánchez, Report informs.
Sánchez expressed condolences to the victims' families and noted that officials had already visited several affected areas.
"Unfortunately, six people have died. We have offered condolences to their families and visited nearby regions," he said.
The quake caused damage to over 250 homes, while 48 buildings were completely destroyed, Sánchez added.
According to the Peruvian Geophysical Institute, the earthquake struck on Saturday evening local time in the country's central Junín department, about 7 km south of the city of Chupaca, with its epicenter at a depth of 24 km.
