Saudi women have already been given the opportunity to climb the ranks in the front line of public security, Report informs citing the TASS.
The kingdom’s Ministry of Defence has relaxed the rules – while women have been able to join the armed forces in Saudi Arabia, this is the first time they can climb to higher ranks.
Former head of the Saudi Center for Civil Defense Operations, Hassan al-Shahri, called the government’s decision “a progressive step in the right direction.”
According to him, “wide opportunities” are opening up for women in the armed forces.
