Sandu: Moldova intends to build professional and modern army

"Moldova must make every effort to build a professional and modern army," Moldovan President Maia Sandu said, Report informs citing UNIAN.
Sandu has admitted that Moldova does not have an army ready for battle.
"Our army has been left without military equipment. Now we feel the consequences," Sandu added.
The president stressed that Moldova should learn from the experience of other neutral countries in beefing up the military-political situation.
"This is an investment in the security and defense of the country," Sandu said.
The president promised that as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, she would make efforts to modernize the Moldovan army and national defense system.
