In the first half of 2022, Russia ranked second in terms of tourist flow to Turkiye, the country was visited by 1.45 million Russians, or 8.9% of the total tourist flow, according to statistics from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the country, Report informs citing Interfax.
Germany is in first place with 2 million tourists (12.4% of the total tourist flow), the United Kingdom is in third (1.3 million, a share of 7.7%), Bulgaria is in fourth (1.2 million, 7.3%), Iran – fifth (1 million, a share of 6.4%).
In total, 16.36 million foreign tourists visited Turkiye in January-June 2022, which is almost 2.5 times more than in the same period in 2021 and over three times more than in 2020. From January-June 2019, the tourist flow lags behind by about 10%.
Most often, foreign tourists in January-June visited Istanbul (6.75 million, a share of 41.3% of the total tourist flow), Antalya province (4 million, a share of 24.7%), Edirne (1.7 million, 10.7%), Mugla (874,400, 5.3%) and Artvin (575,900, 3.5%).
