Authorities in Manila acquired a refrigerator truck to use as storage for unclaimed bodies of patients who died of COVID-19.

Report informs, citing foreign media, that city Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso showed to reporters images of a refrigerator truck parked at the Quirino Grandstand, where the city’s COVID-19 field hospital is located, just across the Luneta Park.

He said the local government acquired the truck to store dead COVID-19 patients in case a surge in coronavirus cases ensued.

“Basta ready lang tayo,” he told reporters in a Viber message. “As always.”

As of Friday, Manila reported 75,050 cases, including 1,840 cases, 71,805 recoveries, and 1,405 deaths, according to the city health department.
