REPORT.AZ/ The meeting between Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State, and Kim Yong Chol, a top aide to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was due to take place in New York later this week, but has now been postponed to an unspecified "later date," according to the US State Department, Report informs citing TASS.

The source cited no explananation of why the meeting was postponed, but the two sides had locked horns over the pace of the North’s progress on denuclearization and its demands for the easing of U.S.-led sanctions against Pyongyang.

It was assumed that, together with Pompeo, the US Special Representative for the DPRK Stephen Bigun will attend the meeting in New York.

Notably, the US and the DPRK are currently discussing the possibility of organizing a second meeting of the heads of state,

US President Donald Trump and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un held their first meeting on June 12 in Singapore.
