Pentagon to protect NASA bases on Moon

The US Department of Defense intends to prepare for the establishment of bases on the Moon, as well as for upcoming missions to extract water or minerals, Report informs, referring to The Wall Street Journal.
The Pentagon plans to work closely with NASA to protect US commercial missions. At the same time, the possible use of potentially hostile technologies by Russia or the US is indicated as a justification.
In December 2020, Washington announced that space was turning into a potential hostilities arena between the US and its adversaries.
