Baku. 4 February. REPORT.AZ/ French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian recognized the legitimacy of Juan Guaido, who declared himself the interim president of Venezuela, Report informs citing the RIA Novosti.

"Since Venezuela has a presidential model of government, it is necessary to get out of the crisis through presidential elections. We believe that Juan Guaido has the legitimacy to organize these elections”, Le Drian said.

British Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt also made a statement, according to which Britain will now recognize opposition leader Juan Guaido as the interim president of Venezuela.

The legitimacy of Juan Guaido was also recognized today by Spain, Holland, Sweden, Austria.

On January 26, Germany, France, Spain, and then the United Kingdom and the Netherlands declared their intention to recognize the President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Juan Guaido, as interim president, if country does not announce new elections within eight days.

Notably, the chairman of the Venezuelan parliament and opposition leader Juan Guaido on January 23 declared himself the acting head of state during a rally in Caracas.
