North Korea lifts mask mandate

In all North Korean cities, except for border towns, wearing masks in public places is no longer mandatory, Report informs, citing the Central News Agency of the DPRK

Since all regions of the country have been declared a safe zone, and the national level of quarantine has been lowered, it is now mandatory to wear masks only in border cities and regions.

In July, North Korean epidemiological experts said that for the first time, symptoms of the virus had been detected in people entering the country from South Korea.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un called the coronavirus the biggest shock since the founding of the DPRK. Kim's sister Kim Yo-jong said that Pyongyang will destroy the South Korean authorities if they "provoke" the penetration of the coronavirus into North Korea.
