Residents of Niamey are moving to neighboring cities because of the threat of a military operation that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) may launch against the rebels who have seized power in the republic, Report informs referring to TASS.
Long-term power outages have been recorded in Niamey since the coup as neighboring Nigeria cut power as part of sanctions restrictions. There is no running water in the city.
In addition, the Niger military leadership has deployed additional forces to the capital in preparation for a potential ECOWAS intervention.
