The summit of the heads of state and government of 30 NATO members opened today in Brussels under the chairmanship of the alliance Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
Report informs citing TASS that the NATO press service broadcasted the opening ceremony.
Stoltenberg said that no country in the world could cope with today's security challenges alone. However, he added that Europe and North America are united and can cope with any challenges to their security.
He said a new page would open today in the history of the alliance with the approval of the NATO-2030 initiative - the transatlantic agenda of the future.
The meeting participants are expected to discuss relations with Russia and China, increasing military spending, as well as the process of comprehensive adaptation of the alliance for the period up to 2030. Participants are also to decide on developing a new NATO Strategic Concept, which is expected to be approved in 2022 at the next summit to be held in Spain.
