More than 2,000 humanoid robots to compete in Beijing

More than 2,000 humanoid robots will take part in the Second World Humanoid Robot Games, which will be held in Beijing from August 22 to 26.

According to China Central Television, cited by Report, 666 teams will participate in the competition.

Over five days, the participants will compete in 30 sports and industrial events, including ball games, combat challenges and industrial assembly. Another 21 events will focus on household services.

The competitions will be held at the Beijing Speed Skating Oval, which has been equipped with charging and training facilities for the robots. Participants will also use a 5G communication system that organizers say is designed to prevent technical disruptions.

Zhao Dongwei, deputy head of the organizing committee, said the competition's technology platform takes into account the characteristics of robots from different models and brands.

He said the event aims to promote the wider adoption of humanoid robots in manufacturing and everyday life.
