​Monsoon floods kill more than 160 people

At least 166 people were killed in the Indian States of Assam and Bihar due to floods caused by heavy monsoon rains, Report informs citing TASS.

More than 10 million people were affected by the disaster in these regions.

The flood began in early July, now the water began to subside, but it may take several weeks. More than 7.2 million people remain in the flood zone in Bihar and more than 3.8 million in Assam.

Powerful monsoon showers with thunderstorms also caused death from lightning strikes. Due to lightning, at least 32 people were killed in the past day in the Northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, another 13 people were injured.
