Mikhailov: Armenia surreptitiously dealt treacherous blow to Russia's interests

Yerevan surreptitiously dealt a treacherous blow to Moscow's interests, once again demonstrating a change in geopolitical orientation to a totally pro-Western one, Russian political scientist Yevgeny Mikhailov told Report, commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court of Armenia to ratify the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“Armenian politicians, crazy with their desire to serve the United States, found a very convenient time and place to betray the interests of their main security guarantor, Russia, and recognized the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. At the moment, almost all the largest news agencies in the West have reported that the CSTO member ‘Armenia can now theoretically arrest Vladimir Putin if he visits this small South Caucasian country’,” the political scientist said.

Thus, according to him, a treacherous blow was dealt to Moscow's interests in the region. At the same time, Mikhailov noted that in Armenia they think in vain that one can forever "parasite on the thesis of ‘Russian-Armenian eternal friendship’ and at the same time stab in the back."

“It's unpleasant that when Yerevan has problems, they shout ‘Russia, save!’ And as soon as we save them, the Armenian so-called ‘allies’ quickly forget the assistance provided,” the Russian political scientist added.
