Merkel supports easing COVID restrictions in Germany

German Chancellor Angela Merkel supports a cautious easing of restrictions imposed to curb the coronavirus pandemic, Report informs with reference to Spiegel.
According to participants of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Presidium’s online meeting, the Chancellor believes that more tests should be done when the restrictions are relaxed. At the same time, the Chancellor noted that she understands how much the citizens are waiting for the adoption of the mitigation strategy.
Merkel noted few areas in which restrictions can be relaxed: personal contacts, primary and vocational schools, cultural institutions, restaurants, and sports.
At the same time, the Chancellor urged not to relax vigilance.
