In a recent interview with Russian media, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced that the number of countries recognizing Palestine as a state has reached 149, according to Report.

"We are grateful to all the countries that have recognized the State of Palestine. Their number has reached 149," Abbas stated.

Among the latest nations to acknowledge Palestinian statehood are five Caribbean countries and five European nations: Spain, Norway, Ireland, Slovenia, and Armenia.

Abbas said the Palestinian National Authority continues to urge countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to do so.
