Libyan embassy in Belarus comes under attack

In Belarus, at least 30 armed persons stormed the Libyan embassy this morning, said Libya's chargé d'affaires in Belarus, Asteita Mohammed.

He said the men were linked to the Libyan National Reconciliation Government and were all Belarusian citizens. According to him, he was injured in the incident.

"We are in contact with the Libyan Foreign Ministry, and the situation is under control," the diplomat said. He added that his country's officials had appealed to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry to take the necessary measures to protect the diplomatic staff, but that local law enforcement agencies had not taken any action.

The embassy in Belarus depends on the parliament, which controls the two-seater eastern part of Libya and Khalifa Haftar, the Libyan National Army's head.
