Lebanese leaders discuss army deployment in south

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Army Commander Rodolphe Haykal have discussed preparations to deploy military units in southern Lebanon as part of the implementation of the framework agreement.

According to a statement published by the Lebanese Presidency on X, the meeting also reviewed the country's security situation, with particular attention given to southern areas amid continued Israeli strikes on several towns.

The two officials discussed preparations for implementing the framework agreement in designated pilot areas where the Lebanese army is to be deployed simultaneously with the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

The meeting also covered the Lebanese army's ongoing missions across the country, as well as the condition of the armed forces and the needs of their personnel, the statement said.
