Latvia strongly condemns violent crackdown on protests and violence against women in Iran, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs said on Twitter.
"Women’s rights are human rights and Tehran must fully respect them," he tweeted.
The protests in Iran were sparked by the killing of Mahsa Amini, 22, who was detained by morality police in Tehran on September 13 for the improper wearing of hijab. The death toll in the protests has reached 41.
