The Latvian government has allocated about 4.7 million euros for Ukrainian refugees to learn the Latvian language, according to the Delfi portal, Report informs via TASS.

The courses are intended for refugees, including minors who received secondary education in Ukraine. It is planned that around 6,375 Ukrainians will be able to participate in Latvian language courses free of charge in 2025.

According to the portal, the program for teaching the Latvian language to Ukrainian refugees in Latvia has been implemented since 2022.

According to the results of a survey conducted by Latvia's Rait Custom Research Baltic company in August 2024, less than half of Latvia's residents support the government's acceptance of Ukrainian refugees.
