In an incident that unfolded in the popular tourist destination of Miami Beach, Florida, two Israeli tourists were injured in a shooting carried out by a local Jewish man who mistook them for Palestinians.
Report informs via Ynet that the victims, a father and son duo, were driving in their vehicle when the assailant overtook their car, turned around, and opened fire, discharging a total of 17 shots in their direction. The victims attempted to flee the scene, with one sustaining a gunshot wound to the shoulder and the other suffering a laceration on his arm. Fortunately, their lives are not in danger.
The attacker was identified as 27-year-old Mordechai Brafman, a Jewish resident of the area. Following the incident, Brafman returned to his home, where he was promptly apprehended by the police. He has been taken into custody and charged with attempted murder.
While investigators have not officially disclosed the motives behind Brafman's actions, during questioning, he claimed that he believed he was shooting at Palestinians and was convinced that he had killed them.
A statement from the police read, "It should be noted that while in custody in our interrogation room, the suspect spontaneously stated that while driving his truck, he saw two Palestinians and shot both of them. The victims and the suspect are not known to each other."
