Japan to begin coronavirus vaccination next week

The Japanese authorities have decided to start vaccinating their population against the novel coronavirus in the middle of next week. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said, Report informs with reference to Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper.
Vaccinations in Japan are expected to take place in several phases. First, it will cover about 4 million medical and social workers. At the second stage, about 36 million people over 65 will be vaccinated. The inoculation will then be available for 8.2 million Japanese residents with chronic diseases, while other categories of citizens will get their vaccine later.
Last year, Japan signed agreements for the supply of COVID-19 vaccines with the American pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and the US biotechnology company Moderna.
