The Japanese side has put forward an initiative aimed at resuming negotiations around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said, Report informs referring to TASS.
“We support the constructive role that Japan is playing in resuming the nuclear deal,” Abdollahian said in an interview with Kyodo. The head of the Iranian foreign ministry did not provide any details of the Japanese initiative. He noted that the proposal was conveyed to him by the Japanese side back in August, when Abdollahian travelled to Tokyo on an official visit. The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry added that any initiative from the Japanese side that fits “in the interests of Iran” will be considered positively by Tehran.
In 2015, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany signed the JCPOA with Iran, aimed at overcoming the crisis around the Iranian nuclear program.
