Italy's Senate recognizes Holodomor as genocide of Ukrainian people

The upper chamber of the Italian parliament – the Senate of the Republic – has voted to recognize Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

"I welcome the recognition of the Holodomor as genocide by the Italian Senate; calling things by their names is the key that will prevent the repetition of horrific crimes," head of Ukrainian President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, wrote on Telegram.

Yermak added that Ukraine is grateful to Italy for its substantial and multifaceted support in fighting for future and restoration of justice.

"Victory over Russian evil and historical justice - this is what should be," Yermak said.
